Big Snow!!

In case you were wondering, it does snow in Memphis... I could be wrong, but I don't believe that during the three years that I lived in Utah that it snowed 8" or more in one day/night... Not to say that it was uncommon (I believe that Utah was experiencing a drought most of the time I was there), but regardless, our church meetings were canceled today, so went spent some time outside in the snow... Enjoy the pictures...

Hieu Carson Roberts

We are pleased to announce the birth of newest member of the Roberts Family... Hieu Carson Roberts... Hieu was born on Friday, December 19, 2008 and weighed 7lbs 14ozs and is just about as healthy as babies get.

Unfortunately, as many of the readers of this blog already know, Han experienced some serious complications following the delivery. After Hieu was born, Han lost a lot of blood, and eventhough it seemed like the doctor had gotten everything under control about an 1 1/2 hours after Hieu was born, Han started to bleed again and her blood pressure dropped. A team of doctors then began working on Han to stop her bleeding and restore her blood pressure. To make a long story short, Han had to undergo an emergency Hysterectomy which probably saved her life. All in all Han recieved 10 units of blood and spent two nights in the ICU. She was able to come home on Tuesday afternoon, and is now on the road to what I hope is a speedy recovery. Luckily Mom was able to come in on Thursday and help with the kids. Also, one of our home teachers who lives down the street from us was able to watch Khai and Elden so that mom could come to the Hospital Friday evening, and Han's sister, Lan, and her boyfriend, Alex, were able to come in late Friday Night and spent the majority of the weekend with Han recovering in the ICU. We are greatful for everyone's calls and prayers, and we wish yall a Merry Christmas!

Love,

Daniel, Han, Elden, Khai & Hieu

Fall In Memphis

As the holidays approach, we have been thinking a lot about our family and friends. We sure do miss living near by family, although now we do live closer to most of you than we use to. The weather has been pretty cold here with a few nights already below freezing. But, we did enjoy the fall colors we had while they lasted; the trees in this area were just awesome.

At the beginning of this month, we played host to our first house guests here in Memphis, Elden's Parents (Thuy & Andy). Per request of the court, they were both in town to participate in Elden's hearing and express their approval of our Custody/Guardianship of Elden. The hearing went very smoothly (lasted less than 5 min). While they were in town, we were able to get a know our new city a little better, as we did some tourist sightseeing, and of course ate some good Memphis style Barbeque.

If anybody was wondering when would be a good time to visit us in Memphis, evidently there is a month long festival, called Memphis in May which I hear is a good time including music and a world championship barbeque cooking contest (http://memphisinmay.org/home.html). But we would love to have yall come visit anytime.

Memphis!!!

Just a quick update. Things are going good for us here so far. Han is doing well and we expect to find out soon what we will be having in December. We ran into some complications getting Elden into school, but he will actually start Kindergaten tomorrow at Bon Lin Elementary. Yeah! We've also signed a contract on a house in Bartlett (suburb of Memphis). If you interested in some pictures, you can follow the link and see a slideshow. We will close on 9/25/08, so if anyone is interested in coming to Memphis, we should have plenty of room. We hope everyone is doing well and hope to see yall soon!
